DO School List Assistance

Hey y'all, sorry to post another one of these threads, but I'm feeling a bit lost at the moment. I'm pretty unfamiliar with most of the DO schools and I'm not sure where I should apply given my stats. Any help y'all could give me would be much appreciated! Here's my app in a nutshell:

  • cGPA: 3.71 sGPA: 3.56 (both of these were calculated using AMCAS, so I'd expect the sGPA to be a bit lower for AACOMAS; I aced all of my math classes and I was lead to believe that math...

Can you add a LOR request after you submit?

I know you can edit a LOR request after you submit, but I can't find a definitive answer as to whether you can add a LOR request after you submit or not. I'm shadowing a DO at the end of the month. I know he will write me a LOR, but I can't send him a request until after I shadow him. Otherwise, I'm ready to submit.

Is August-September still considered "early"

Hey everyone,

I am taking the new MCAT in July, and we won't get scores back till Mid August. I was wondering, with everything else verified, submitting stuff in July/pre writing secondaries in that month off, would a mid August application still be considered "On time" for most places?

I would take the test in June, but I feel that I am not ready, and I know it is better to wait then to take the test and tank in hopes of getting it in early.

AACOMAS GPA & Transcript Question

Playing with the idea of sending in my app this weekend. I am taking summer courses. If I get verified before I can send out transcripts of my completed summer courses, AACOMAS will have a sGPA and cGPA set, but once I send it out eventually, do they re-calculate the sGPA and cGPA?

How to Print AACOMAS PDF?

How is everyone printing the AACOMAS application? My advisor wants a copy...
AACOM told me you can only generate a PDF to print after you submit. There seems no option to print before submitting, which is available with AMCAS and TMDSAS...

Medically Underserved Area?

There's an option on AACOMAS that lists a bunch of things to check which designate being "educationally/environmentally disadvantaged". One states: Live in an area that is designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area or a Medically Underserved Area.

Does anyone know how to confirm if your area falls under this category? And if it does, is it worth checking off? Would it have any impact on one's application?

I just submitted my fee waiver app, it was pretty simple just a 1040 form.

However, I have my entire app finished and all transcripts received. I want to submit asap, how long until AACOMAS will reach a decision from any personal experience?

I want to submit fast in order to be early, but also don't want to spend money!

How details I need to write for description in "experience" section

I just wonder how much detail I need to get to when I write the description of "experience" section in AACOMAS.
For example, if I volunteer an activity one day each year, should I list that date out? eg. I volunteered at XXX on 9/14/2012, 9/10/2013 and 9/10/2014

I can be very specific because I don't want schools feel I am making something up. So I want to give them very accurate description.

But will it read annoying? Do schools really care about the dates? Then how much specific I need to...

Hi everyone!!

I went to submit my application today, but before I did I saw the warning that said the evaluation section locks when you do so. I still have to ask an MD I shadowed if he would write me a LOR so I didn't add an entry for that yet. Could anyone who has submitted already tell me if it is possible to add another LOR entry or if you are completely locked out?? And if so, what should I do? I really want to get my app in queue to be verified, but several of my programs need a...

First Day to submit AACOMAS 2016 Application Is?

From my understanding you can submit your application right now if you want to, but it will not be received by schools until June 15th? So basically the "real" 1st day to submit would be June 15th then?

If that is the case then I dont see what the advantage is to submitting right now.

Send letters of recommendation now or later?

Should my school send the letters of recommendation now or wait and send the letters along with my committee letter which I will get in a month or so?

I was thinking of telling my school to send my letters of rec now. When my committee letter is ready, then they can send it to those schools as an attachment.

Is it beneficial to send letters now and then send committee letter or wait and have them send both at once? I don't want the delay in not having my letter of rec affect anything....

Hello everyone, current 4th year student here. I'm on my second to last rotation, things have slowed way down, and I'd like to offer up answers and advice for anyone who wants it.

A little about me:

- Former underdog applicant (from the original underdogs thread)
- Did quite well in med-school and on boards
- Married with kids
- Applied to FM residency, awaiting match results (two weeks!)

1. I'm having trouble deciding between "part time" "temporary" and "per diem." For example, I am a committee member on an honor society. We met like once or twice a week randomly. However, it wasnt completely random as we met EVERY week. I was a member for only a year so in a way it was temporary. I dont know what to put when? Does anyone have a simple guideline for when to put which?
